Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains how The Tool Directory may collect and use information when you browse the site, submit a tool, create an account or contact us.
Information you provide
If you submit a tool or contact us, we may receive information such as your name, email address, product URL and the content of your message. We use this information to respond, review submissions, prevent abuse and operate the directory.
Accounts and community activity
If you create an account, we store the information needed to sign you in and operate community features. Upvotes, community points and public comments may be associated with your account. Public comments and your display name can be visible to other visitors. We may remove spam, abusive activity or attempts to manipulate community results.
Analytics, discovery signals, advertising and cookies
The site may use analytics and advertising services, including Google services. We also maintain first-party discovery signals to understand human reach and requests from recognised AI crawlers or agents. For our rolling visitor estimate, raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics table; limited request information is converted into a one-way hashed identifier and old records are automatically pruned. Country reach is recorded only when our hosting or CDN provides a country code. Third-party services may separately use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or similar identifiers to measure traffic, prevent fraud, personalise experiences or serve and measure advertising. Where required, visitors are provided with appropriate privacy and consent choices.
You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at Google’s partner sites policy page and can manage personalised ad choices through Google’s advertising settings.
Third-party websites
Tool profiles contain links to websites operated by third-party software providers. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. The Tool Directory is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.
Data retention and security
We keep submitted information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, legal obligations, security and record keeping. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may contact us to ask about personal information you have directly submitted to us. Depending on your location, additional privacy rights may apply.
