What does Cite Check do?
Cite Check is a downloadable browser tool from Paperstack, a project under Meltemi Labs. Paste manuscript text and its reference list to flag missing references, unused references, author-name discrepancies, year mismatches and ambiguous author-date citations. It runs offline in a single HTML file: manuscript text is not uploaded, and the tool makes no AI calls. The price is US$12 once, including the tool, JavaScript source, automated tests, a fictional sample chapter, a single-user licence and seven days of defect support. The code and documentation were developed with AI assistance. It checks citation-to-reference consistency, not whether a source supports a claim or whether formatting follows a style guide. Numbered and footnote citation styles are not checked; users should review every finding. Background and published-paper checks: https://quote-trace-meltemi.pages.dev/cite-check/
